denis

Denis will be playing a few songs at the launch for "The Australian Spirit", a CD of songs about Australia by independent Australian artists as part of The 2011 Hats Off to Country Festival.

His song "I Can't Get Nowhere", which is a parody of Geoff Mack's "I've Been Everywhere", has been included on the album. He wrote "I Can't Get Nowhere" after the Keneally Government in NSW announced its solutions for Sydney's road problems wouldn't take effect for 15 to 20 years.

Geoff Mack heard the song on radio, loved it, and called his record company, suggesting they include it on "The Australian Spirit".

Denis has since written verses for other Australian cities. His research included discussions with the opposition road spokespeople for Victoria and Queensland, who were more than happy to share information on their traffic woes.

The launch will be on Friday July 8 from 4 to 7 pm at "The Pub", 99 Gunnedah Road, Tamworth.

He'll also be playing at the Sydney launch later in the month.
